This blog has been set up to record the adventures of five brave souls (a Dungeon Master and four adventurers) as they journey through the world of 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons.
All the players are new to 4th Edition, although they share a wealth of gaming experience between them. So, let's meet the cast.
Wayne (aka the DM)

Jason H - Eiriash Dryearanea, Elven Rogue
Richard H - Human Wizard
I intend to start the party off with the official H1 Scenario - Keep on the Shadowfell, with a few adjustments to fit their character backgrounds. I have chosen to use the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, so I have located the town of Winterhaven in the Thunder Peak mountains.
The players are currently in the process of generating their characters. I will post these over the next few days. Meanwhile I have been fleshing out the backgrounds for the characters and familiarising myself with the basic rules and the first few encounters of the scenario.
I have played lots of D&D, primarily 2nd Edition, both as a player and a DM. As a DM I like the players to be free to explore pretty much whatever and wherever they like rather than sticking rigidly to a strict linear narrative. I'm comfortable making things up on the fly and the priority is for the players to enjoy the adventure.
Initially we plan to meet up about once every four weeks or so. Hopefully this will mean that the previous adventures remain relatively fresh in the players minds.
